Irish-born 19 year old "horse-whisperer”, Hugh MacDermott, embarks on a courageous solo 2 year journey on horseback across the vast and rugged landscapes of Argentina. Struggling with his sexuality and past traumas, he rejects conformity and materialism, in search for purpose and meaning.
Inspired by his childhood favourite book "Tschiffely’s Ride", this is a journey of self-discovery, grief, endurance and personal growth. Hugh faces unforeseen hardships of all kinds, both mentally and physically, his quest a metaphor for life. Encountering diverse characters along the way, he is spurred on by a will to succeed, as we witness the magical bond between man and horse.
Guided by the founder of the Long Riders’ Guild, his epic two-year journey emphasises the spiritual outcomes of equestrian travel, his achievement an extreme rarity, with only a handful of successful long riders in every generation.
